RENDEZVOUS IN PARADISE by Annick Weilche

Rendevous in Paradise by Annick  Weilche

Rendezvous in Paradise is the name of an exciting new title by newbie independent author Annick Weilche. It’s romantic suspense and the first in a series. If you’re going to judge the book by the cover, it looks like a romantic story set in an exotic location. Now in Australia, where Annick lives, they’re heading into summer, but in the northern hemisphere where I’m based, it’s heading for winter. This looks like the perfect read for a winter’s day, total escapism. Interview with author Annick Weilche

Annick, could you share with me what inspires you to write?

I get my inspiration from everyday life. Most of what I write is what I have experienced, locations that I know, which I embellish and romanticise. I am also inspired by the stories I read.

What is your favourite genre and why?

I read a lot of romantic suspense. I’ve always been a tragic romantic, in love with love. I love a bit of suspense in a story.

Can you please share a bit about your writing process?

It starts with an idea for a story. I think about it for a while, then I get my notebook out and start listing characters, research names, locations, real life events and timelines. Once I have all the material to start a story, I begin by handwriting it and then type it up as I go.

Can you sum up your book in a Tweet-sized statement? (That’s 280 characters, BTW)

Amanda Jones’ holidays on tropical island Paradise are marred by the theft of her bag. Teaming up with Detective Jerome Richard to flush out the thief proves more dangerous than anticipated. Jerome, an undercover INTERPOL agent, investigating a drug cartel, worries about the consequences his relationship with Amanda, but she is more engrossed in the sparks flying between them.

Great summary, although at 379 characters, it’s about the 99 characters longer than a Tweet! So tell me Annick, do you have plans for another book in the near future?

I have one novella in production. Book 2 of the Paradise Team series is on the way and I’ve started the research for books 3 and 4 of the series.

Meet Carmen Falcone

ANNOUNCEMENT:  The winner of the book giveaway was Pat Posner.  Congratulations, Pat.  We will be in touch with you.

I’m very happy to welcome author Carmen Falcone, from Austin, Texas, USA,  to my blog today.  Carmen’s debut novel A VENGEFUL AFFAIR was published in July by Entangled Publishing.  She’s come today especially to tell us about her novel.

Carmen, please tell us something about your new novel. What type of story is it?
A Vengeful Affair is a steamy romance about Vivian’s quest for revenge. She believes Javier killed her best friend, and since she doesn’t have enough evidence to lock him up, she wants to steal his billion-pound merger instead. However, he catches her in his office afterwards, and is adamant about keeping her close until he finds out who she really is. Though they are on opposite sides, the time they spend together makes it hard for them to ignore the sizzling attraction and the emotional bond they began to share, despite their best efforts not to.
Did you find the story difficult or easy to write?
Let me put it this way; it seems easier after it’s done J I’ve started to write it at a difficult and exhilarating time in my life. I had a toddler and was just going back to school and work; I really didn’t have the time to write. But I couldn’t not do it.
Tell us something about your main characters.
Javier is a multilayered Alpha male; he’s damaged, sexy, and powerful. He’s used to getting things his way, and then BAM, Vivian comes around.  She’s threatening to take from him all he’s worked so hard for. She’s a strong heroine, and the perfect match for Javier. They both have had their share of pain, and as they start to get to know each other, they have to learn how to overcome issues of their own.
What did you enjoy most about writing this story?
I enjoyed figuring out the twists and turns. I really love fast-paced romance novels, and wanted to make sure mine didn’t bore the reader. I hate to think you’ll start reading my book and will put it aside to read something else or get a cup of coffee. LOL. I want the reader to want to know what’s coming next.
Did your characters ever ‘speak’ to you?
All the time. I had a very rough outline of the story and let my characters lead me.
Now your book is written and out in the world. Do you miss living in that special world you created?
It’s bittersweet, really. It was hard to say good-bye to my characters because I felt so invested. At the same time, I’m incredibly lucky. The sales surpassed my expectations, and the feedback has also been lovely. Javier and Vivian will always have a special place in my heart because they story kept me going.
Thank you, Carmen, I really enjoyed interviewing you and found what you had to say very inspiring. I loved reading your novel and very much look forward to your next one.

Review

A VENGEFUL AFFAIR  is the debut novel by Carmen Falcone, published by Entangled Publishing’s Indulgence line.

Javier Rivera, a London-based business magnate, is intrigued to find the stunning receptionist Vivian Foster, snooping in his office after hours, pinching files.  He suspects industrial espionage. However, there’s no time to verify Vivian’s credentials or check her motives.  He has a plane to catch and a merger to sign.  So he has no choice but to take Vivian along with him, using force if necessary.  For Vivian, this isn’t so much about espionage as it is about justice.  She hates Javier and blames him for the death of her best friend a few months earlier.  The enforced companionship which takes them to Paris, Switzerland and back again, helps them to get to know each other better.  They learn that things are not always as they seem on first appearances.  Then there’s that attraction flaring between them.  BTW the love scenes are smoking hot, so don’t say you weren’t warned.

A slickly written piece of romantic suspense which will grab you by the collar at the outset and won’t let you go until it’s finished with you. Vivian is a strong, witty heroine and I loved reading the dialogue in this novel, especially where she was involved.   I had to read the whole book in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down.  If you love suspenseful, romantic fiction, you’ll enjoy this immensely.  As for me, I’ll be looking out for Carmen Falcone’s next book.
